Organised by SmileFactor10, the St Anne’s International Kite Festival was held on the 29th, 30th and 31st August 2025. The festival will be remembered not just for how windy, and at times wet it was, but for the fantastic efforts of the fliers. We arrived at midday on the Friday shortly after a heavy downpour and therefore the beach looked like the tide had come in. For many, plans changed in terms of kites being flown due to the ground conditions and wind strength. When it came to the night flight the sky was filled with LED lit kites as well as some lit by the strong floodlights. Another great night fly.
The weather on Saturday continued to bring some strong winds and with an approaching storm the flying was cut a couple of hours short in the afternoon. Still a great display was put on by everyone. Sunday’s winds were even stronger so we got our 40 and 50 metre tube tails out. We thought we were being lucky with the dark clouds travelling to our South until it suddenly changed by 90o which meant a move of the car but we continued to fly until a shout of some apparently non-existent lightning told us to take the kites down.
A hugely successful weekend and again many thanks to Craig and Sue plus the rest of the team for all their efforts that made the festival such a great success.
