The Cleethorpes International Kite Festival took place on 17/18th May 2003. The forecast for the weekend was rain, rain and more rain plus add some thunder storms. In the end the weather was great. Sunday, for example, saw one downpour about 4pm with all the bad weather skirting around to the North and West of Cleethorpes. Mind you after a flash of thunder was spotted the main larger display kites were quickly brought down. The usual sets of kites and kiters were there and also some I didn’t recognise from the foreign contingent including the Japanese visitors who as ever came with their traditional kites and Johan Hallin showing off his kites made of bird feathers. The highlight of the day for the kids was a personal miniature kite making workshop from Ton Vinken.
