The St Anne’s International Kite Festival was held on the 8th, 9th and 10th September 2023 organised by SmileFactor10. The event had flying on the Friday as well as over the weekend and the Friday night saw a change from the usual fireworks to a laser show accompanying the night flight. Unfortunately a lack of wind that evening didn’t help the fliers but the public seemed to enjoy the event. There was a fantastic atmosphere and buzz around the town especially on the Saturday with people staying late into the evening.
We weren’t helped by low winds and the threat thunderstorms but everyone played a part on putting on a great display through the weekend. The highlight for some was a couple of fly pasts from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster which was a fantastic sight as it circled low around the flying arena. We had some super wind arrive with an hour to go before the festival officially ended on the Sunday with most people chasing to make the most of the conditions and fly for a bit longer
