The first ever Filey Kite Festival was held on the Brigg, Filey on 18th/19th September 2021. The wind swung by about 90 degrees on the Saturday causing a few of us having to move and also others to have to collect their kites from some trees (successfully I’m glad to report). Sunday the wind came straight off the sea which sounds good but when you are at the top of a cliff, seasoned fliers will know that it can be challenging – at least until you can get the kites high enough. The other challenge of the day was the torrential rain that came in the afternoon which gave us the choice to pack away early or just keep on flying as the kites were wet anyway. We chose the latter. Good job we’d packed the wet bags again.
