Bristol 2002

The Bristol International Kite Festival took place at Ashton Court, Bristol on 31st August/1st September 2002. This was our first year at Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed the full two days there. The crowds were good – It felt like most of Bristol had turned up at Ashton Court. Both days had beautiful weather and we spent most of it in our cabana next to the main arena. The wind (or lack of it) at times caused problems for the fliers but didn’t stop one of the Robertshaws get a Flexifoil blade to go around all 360 degrees of the arena. The most poignant moment came with the flying of the Carl Robertshaw designed Kite of Hope in aid of Cancer Research UK. The minute’s silence was quiet emotional for a lot of people there.
