The Whitley Bay Kite Festival arranged by Malcolm Goodman was held on 15th and 16th August 2020. It was amazing to get an invite to fly here again especially as we’d already booked our holiday in Northumberland for the same week. Some things are just made to be!
Saturday was one of those days where Sarah spent most of the day walking backwards and forwards (4.2 miles) across the field trying to launch the lifter. We managed to get a few things flying throughout the day though.
Sunday brought good winds and therefore a great show. It was lovely to hear and see the public enjoying it after such a difficult year. Peter even got applauded for getting the kites back into the bag!
The event was very well organised with sanitising stations around the field for both flyers and spectators and from what we saw everyone stuck to the social distancing rules. Hopefully this will be the start of more events to come.
