The Whitley Bay Kite Festival was held on 19th and 20th August 2017 next to the Spanish City on the sea front with a small number of invited flyers participating. The wind on the Saturday was very strong with gusts of over 40mph which made flying challenging! Saying that though there was still a good display for the public to watch. Sunday was a great day to fly with much kinder winds that dropped towards the end of the day. Our highlight was Sarah flying our Rolf Zimmermann Octopus by hand which was joined shortly afterwards by our Peter Lynn Octopus. It was lovely to see them ‘dance’ side by side in the sky.
