The Whitley Bay Kite Festival was held on 6th and 7th August 2016 next to the Spanish City on the sea front. This was more of a kite display rather than a festival with only a small number of invited fliers attending. Saturday morning saw a light wind which turned with the tide about lunchtime to produce a little more breeze. Sunday however was rather windy to say the least with very little being able to be flown. Still it was a good weekend which can hopefully help towards a move back to the days of a bigger event.
